Memories

I couldn't sleep last night, and so I got to thinking... about all the normal housewife things - the laundry (my neverending project), grocery shopping, thesis writing....

And last but not least, my mind was circulating around another event. Just a few days ago, you see, I recieved a facebook invitation for our 10 year primary school reunion. It is still hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since we left 'folkeren.' It's not a time that I think about very often... I've moved on, lots of stuff has happened since then - and I'm sure most of my old classmates feel the same way. I am looking forward to attending the reunion... kind of.

You see, I read once that when we go to reunions, we tend to fall straight back into the roles we once had... the nerd, the jock, the valedictorian... etc, you name it. And it scares me, that now, 10 years later, I may go to Sønderborg to go to a party, and fall straight back into those old patterns that no longer exemplify who I am. I am scared that those people, who I once spent day out and day in with, will think that I am the same as I once was....

Will they see, and accept, that I've changed? That I am no longer that same scared little 14-year old girl, desperately longing to be accepted, to be liked and included? The one who hid behind a computer screen during recess because she would rather not try at all, than to be rejected. Again. Will they see that I am funny and smart and miles more confident than I once was.... but that I am still not perfect, I am still flawed and sometimes scared? That I am a mother, a girlfriend, a scholar..... and so much more.

Is it odd that I feel some sort of need to 'prove myself' to them?

And will I be open to accepting that they have changed as well? I hope that I will be able to forgive and forget their past flaws as well... and realize that they have grown up, just like I have. That they are unique individuals...fathers, mothers, partners, scholars, workers, and adults.

And I wonder... if any of them might feel the very same way.

Flashback Thursday - Vacation Edition

One of my only regrets from the college days (you know, if I believed in regrets...) would be never going on "Spring Break woohoo." I did, however, go on Spring Break. With addyday #2, Erin, Cari, and some others. And it was fun, too. I wouldn't have done without it. It just wasn't "wooohoo."

Todays flashback goes back to March of junior year, to the Florida Keys, to scuba diving...

Let's go back, shall we? Back to the year 2008:

A few pictures from the resort

A few of our group getting ready for dinner time

Daytrip to Key West and the Southernmost Point of the US.

Key West - watching the Cruise ship take off,

Crazy weather, crazy pretty water.
It's not even that I'm really the "Spring break woohoo" type - it's just that now it's too late to go on a vacation based only on drinking and partying. (Although - I really don't think I'm missing all that much).

It's a birthday-like celebration!
How to celebrate 100 posts?
Well, I'm going to go back through some of my favorite posts of blog-life past....
.... because I'm narcisistic like that....

Back in high school, in the xanga days, I had an everyday-life blog. After starting College I deleted that blog - something I still regret to this day. Mostly because it would have been interesting to read back about what I was doing back then.

This blog started out as just a place for me to dump some stories and writings. Some of those things have since been deleted. It didn't really a create a life of its own until I moved back to Denmark in August of 2009. The original intent was to post pictures and stories from my new life abroad. The first many posts were sporadic and random....

I wrote some posts about cultural differences and observations, like this one on being culturaly illiterate.
I wrote about humor, laughter, and Audrey Hepburn as well as a post about life as a student.

In August of 20100 (on my birthday, actually), my friend Erin got engaged to Matt. I interned at Danfoss and wrote about my love and fascination for communication, and about how I wanted to be a popular blogger who gets free stuff from campaigns.

I wrote about my little sister and my goal in life of becoming a lifestyle expert.

In 2011, the blog turned into much more of an everyday/lifestyle/ blog with a main focus on pregnancy and a little bit of food-related nonsense.

What will happen next? Stay tuned to find out....

Flashback Thursday - April 2006

Let's go back - back to the year 2006.

Remember when...
.... We went to Tigerfest at Towson?

Back when Tigerfest was free for all students (how did us non TU kids get in..?)... We sneaked liquids onto the field in waterbottles... hidden down the shirts of certain people... Someone fell asleep on the field during the main act....We guzzled down cookies and french fries and chicken fingers for dinner from the diner.... hangover food of champions...

Featuring Yellowcard and Mae
We pregamed at the home of Erin and Stacy

This picture used to be upside down....
It's so easy a caveman could do it...
Feel the love?
And then suddenly.....

Megan was preggo!!! We are still (impatiently) awaiting the arrival of this little miracle child.

Flashback Thursday - remember when...?

Remember that time at Towson when we went to go climb on the tiger, but much to our dismay we found out it was GONE?
Let's go back - back to the year 2006

First we went to campus to find the Tiger.

But where did it go?
Why is the Tiger gone?

Sad faces all around

No one understands the sudden dissapearance of the Tiger.

So everybody starts looking for the Tiger.

Is it in the bushes back here?

Is it out there in the horizon?

Hmmm....

Hmmmmm..... where can we find a dangerous Tiger kitty?

A replacement Tiger has been found.

People seem to be pretty excited about it.

Hey, remember back in college when we used to be fun and spontaneous?

Going Old School - France 2007

Remember when...

We went to France?

Really though, the title should be "Remember when we went to Paris and Nice and a few other small places in France?" It's not like we actually experienced all of France, but we did get about 14 days of touristy France.
At the end of May 2007, Erin and I travelled to Paris, France. We spent most of the first week in Paris (sunday afternoon through friday evening).

A while back I posted an overly nostalgic picture-blog titled "Going way old school - Nostalgia 2005" with the tag "remember when?"

So I'm going to go back through some of my visits, travels, and aother memories, to make some "remember when" posts. Some of it just for the sake of me making a written note of some of the memories, even though it is already a few years too late. Also, maybe it will be fun for some friends/family to hear more of the random details I remember from different events.

Just a warning, so that you know what to expect! Look for a very detailed picture post coming in the next few days of a trip I took a few years back. Hint: "no photo mademoiselle."
